Maryland State Boychoir
YOU might say that Stephen Holmes grew up in the Maryland State Boychoir. Beginning as a chorister at age 9, he progressed through the ranks of Team Leader, Deputy Head Chorister, and Head Chorister. Because of his talent and abilities in both directing and accompanying, he was recently appointed Assistant Director and placed in charge of the Concert Choir. He is presently a sophomore at Towson University in suburban Baltimore, where he is a music major.
Mr. Holmes has held professional posts since he was 13, first serving as pianist at Long Green Baptist Church. From 1996 to 1997, he was organist and choirmaster at the Oak Crest Village Chapel and held the same position from 1997 to 1998 at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. He continues to serve as Worship Leader at Long Green Baptist Church and was recently appointed Assistant Minister of Music and Youth Minister at the Cathedral Church of Saint Matthew in Baltimore.
Mr. Holmes is an active participant in the University Corale, Chamber Singers, Early Music Ensemble, and Opera Workshop at Towson University. He serves as secretary of the Towson ACDA chapter, and is also a member of the Baltimore AGO. He currently studies voice with Bette Hankin and organ with Thomas Spacht.
Stephen is in charge of the Concert Choir, an intermediate ensemble of the Maryland State Boychoir, and assists in conducting the combined choirs.
